Fire Risk in Europe Conference (21/22.06.10)
The 2010 Fire Risk in Europe Conference was held this week in Newcastle. The event was hosted by Northumberland Fire & Rescue Service in partnership with the ANSFR (Accidental, Natural and Social Fire Risk Assessment and Management) project partners from Denmark, Italy and Finland.
Firebrake Wales, the Welsh Fire Safety Charity, was pleased to be one of 12 organisations chosen to publicize their work, in poster form, at the conference. The poster presented an overview of the organisation which is unique both in Wales and the UK generally, as well some of the findings from their recent research into fire risk amongst vulnerable groups, many of whom are over-represented in fire casualty statistics.
Home Fire Safety Check video (19.08.09)
Firebrake have commissioned a new Home Fire Safety Check video which will show and explain, in brief, what happens during the check and why it is important to own and maintain smoke alarms. Below are some photos we took during the filming.
Smoke Free Living Launch (29.05.09)
The Smoke Free Living Project aims to reduce the risks of smoking to health, the environment, children and fire in the home by reducing the level of smoking in the home.
The Project was successfully launched at Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service's Community Safety Headquarters at Morriston on 29th May. Around 30 guests attended including representatives from the NPHS, Welsh Fire Services and Welsh Assembly. Speakers included Kim Smith (Firebrake Wales), Tanya Buchanan (ASH Wales), Dr Brian Gibbons and Deputy Chief Fire Officer Phil Coleman.
